Gus Nicklos: Designer / Typographer

An eclectic presentation of typography & visual language, masks & patterns.

Website: Gus Nicklos

Typography is a big idea to tackle. The word can mean different things depending on who speaks it and in what context. Typography is both technical and aesthetic. Designing a font is part craft / part engineering, and uses both sides of the brain. I plan to draw a circle around fundamental and abstract–general and granular aspects of typography (and visual language). Far from linear or comprehensive, I will narrate a miscellaneum of form, discovery, ideas and moments threaded together over images.

I have always loved making things for people. I want those things to be special. I keep my head in the clouds and my eyes open, in search of enigmatic moments. What can we learn from them?

I imagine futures, translate complex ideas into clear communication and design places for people and ideas to find relationship.

I am driven by curiosity and hope to share the benefits of wonder and surprise through the things we create together.
