Meadow Anderson: Meadow Design Ceramics

Throwing Kaolin and Melting Cones: A Potter's Perspective on Clay

WEBSITES: MEADOW DESIGN CERAMICS

We touch ceramics every day, but the process of transforming mud and dust into these durable objects can seem mysterious.  Meadow will give a brief introduction to the art and science of ceramics and clay, drawing on her own experiences in the studio working with porcelain clay, a pottery wheel, and an electric kiln.

Meadow Anderson is a ceramic artist based in Portland, Oregon.  At previous points along the way, Meadow worked on sustainable products policy at the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., studied bacterial gene regulation to earn a Ph.D. in Chemistry at UC Berkeley, and taught Geometry and Physics in Indonesia. As life continues to unfold, she’s curious what shape will best describe her career trajectory.
