XRAY.fm and the Future of Independent Media
WEBSITES: XRAY.fm, XRAYrecords.org, deathlist, Summer Cannibals,
We are all aware of corporate influence in the media, but what can we do about it? This talk will begin with a brief history of the LPFM movement in independent media, the act of Congress that enabled media consolidation, the landmark decision in Citizens United, and the past and future of net neutrality. Jenny will explain the founding of XRAY.fm within this historical framework, and discuss ways ordinary people can build and maintain open, independent media channels in our current legal and political climate.
